Cryptosphaeria Grev. 1822
This genus includes several wood decaying fungi that infect trees like poplar or willow and also grapevines. They typically enter the trunk through woods and colonise the heartwood and sapwood as well as the cambium and bark at a later stage. The infections result in cankers, wood discoloration, dieback and decay (e.g. see Trouillas and Gubler, 2016).
