Cotton leaf curl Gezira virus (CLCuGV)
This virus is part of the cotton leaf curl disease complex. It is widely distributed in the Near East and in Africa. In addition, it has been recorded from North America (Villegas et al., 2019). Apart from cotton, other plants and vegetables can become infected, for example okra or tomatoes.
CLCuGV is usually associated with a DNA-beta satellite molecule (Cotton leaf curl Gezira betasatellite, CLCuGeB) and often also with the Cotton leaf curl Gezira alphasatellite.
