Colletotrichum acutatum (entomopathogen) J.H. Simmonds 1968
Colletotrichum acutatum var. fioriniae has been described as an entomopathogen, infecting the elongate hemlock scale, Fiorinia externa, in North America (Marcelino et al., 2008). It is widely distributed in north-eastern North America and apparently can cause epizootics. The fungus grows in hemlock as an endophyte without causing external symptoms (Marcelino et al., 2009).
