Clavigralla tomentosicollis Stål, 1855 - (brown cowpea coreid bug)
This plant-sucking bug is a pest of cowpeas in central and southern Africa. It attacks the developing pods which shrivel and dry up, resulting in crop losses of more than 50% during outbreaks. Eggs are laid in clusters on pods or leaves and the nymphs are gregarious, with more than 100 bugs having been recorded on a single cowpea plant.
