Chlorops Meigen, 1830
This genus of frit flies contains around 100 species, which are mainly found in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. They are typically yellowish, mostly black on the back with yellow stripes on the scutum. Several species are pests of cereals like rice or wheat. They breed in the stems and can cause crop losses of more than 50%.
