Cherry virus A (CVA)
This virus is widely distributed and common, infecting cherry trees and other Prunus species. It was originally described from Germany from a mixed infection with Little cherry virus 1 (Jelkmann, 1995) and is often found together with other viruses. Infections have not been linked to specific symptoms. The virus has been found in trees with different symptoms (like mottling or mosaic), but also in asymptomatic trees. Infection rates in cherry trees can reach a level of 50% or more. The virus is graft-transmissible.
