Cercospora zebrina Pass. 1877
This fungus is widely distributed and causes a leaf spot disease on Trifolium species, other legumes, as well as other plants. Typically the lesions are limited by the veins, rectangular in outline and sometimes reddish. Hot weather can lead to epidemics and result in defoliation of the plants. The conidia spread with rain splashes and wind the fungus can also be transmitted through the seeds.
