Ceranisus menes (parasitoid) (Walker, 1839)
This wasp is widely distributed and is a solitary endoparasitoid of the larvae of several thrips species. Common hosts are, for example Frankliniella occidentalis or Thrips species. In Japan, it is the most important parasitoid of Thrips tabaci and parasitization rates can exceed 50% (Bartlett et al., 1978). C. menes can be mass-reared for augmentative releases (Tagashira & Yoshimi, 2001).
The adult wasp is typically up to 1 mm long. Head and mesosoma are dark brown and the metasoma, antennae, legs and abdomen yellowish.
