Identification of African stemborer larvae (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae, Pyralidae) based on morphology
Bulletin of Entomological Research 86 (5), 567-578
Abstract: Descriptions are given of the larval stages of the 15 most damaging African stemborer species, belonging to the genera Chilo Zincken, Coniesta Hampson, Eldana Walker, Maliarpha Ragonot, Scirpophaga Treitschke (Pyralidae}, Sesamia Guenée and Busseola Thurau. Chaetotaxy of the larvae has been studied. Previously published studies on the same subject are discussed. A key is provided for the identification of the genera, and where possible, the species.
