Bruchus Linnaeus, 1767
This genus of bruchids contains around 20 species which attack pods and seeds of legumes where the larvae develop. Several species are important storage pests like Bruchus pisorum or B. rufimanus. These have spread through human trade of legumes and are now widely distributed.
The genus is closely related to the genus Callosobruchus and can be recognized by a number of morphological features like the structures of the pronotum, the tibia of the middle legs and the male genitalia.
