Brachycaudus van der Goot, 1913

This genus of aphids includes around 50 species which are mainly found in the Palearctic region. They may have alternate hosts in their life cycle and several are important crop pests. For example, the leaf curling plum aphid, Brachycaudus helichrysi, is widely distributed and has plum and other Prunus species as primary host and various other plants like sunflower, potatoes or citrus as secondary host.

Brachycaudus species are small aphids with antennae that are shorter than their bodies and that have little developed tubercules at their base. The siphunculi are also short and the cauda is short and rounded.
