Bipolaris euphorbiae (weed pathogen) (Hansf.) J.J. Muchovej & A.O. Carvalho 1989
This plant pathogen is being developed as a bioherbicide against Euphorbia heterophylla, a serious weed of soybeans and other crops in South America (e.g. Moraes et al. 2014). The host range of the fungus is restricted. It causes necrotic spots on the stem and leaves, leading to defoliation and often plant death.
