Banana mild mosaic virus (BanMMV)
This virus is widely distributed and common in banana germplasm accessions. Infected banana plants are often symptomless, but mixed infections with other viruses like Banana streak viruses or Banana bract mosaic virus can result in severe necrosis. Like other members of the Betaflexiviridae, it has flexuous filamentous particles. The particles of BanMMV are around 580 nm long and contain a single-stranded positive-sensed RNA genome with about 7360 nucleotides and 5 open reading frames.
