Balsaminaceae - (jewelweed family)
The family contains around 1,000 species of herbaceous plants or small shrubs. Nearly all belong to the genus Impatiens. Some species are ornamentals but several are invasive and important weeds like Impatiens glandulifera and I. parviflora. The structure of the resupinate flowers is characteristic, e.g. they often have a horn-shaped spur.
