Baccharis halimifolia L. (weed)
This weed is native to North America but highly invasive in Europe and Australia. It is especially destructive in wetlands and can tolerate salt. In the salt marshes of coastal areas it can establish woody monospecific stands and affects the ecology of these habitats. The bushes grow to a height of up to 4 m. One plant can produce up to 1 million small seeds per year which disperse by wind.
For a review of survey and control methods see EPPO Bulletin (2016) 46, 567-575.
