Zucchini yellow mosaic virus in buttercup squash - a new record in New Zealand
Australasian Plant Pathology 25 (2), 142-142
Abstract: Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) was isolated for the first time in New Zealand from buttercup squash (Cucurbita maxima) crops in Hawke's Bay. ZYMV, together with watermelon mosaic virus (WMV), infected two of three adjacent squash crops with an estimated mosaic incidence of 50%. A heavy infestation of Aphis gossypii was also associated with the affected crops. Virus identity was confirmed using indicator hosts, electron microscopy and ELISA serological tests.
