Apocynum androsaemifolium (weed) L. - (spreading dogbane)
This plant is widely distributed in North America and can be a significant weed in blueberry crops in eastern Canada. It spreads from underground rhizomes and forms distinct patches. Management is difficult once the weed has established, since herbicides tend to damage the blueberries. A. androsaemifolium grows to a height of about half a metre, with red stems and small fragrant flowers.
