Aphanomyces cochlioides Dechsler - (sugarbeet black rot)

The oomycete causes seedling damping-off and black root rot on mature sugarbeet. Further, infections can result in distortions on the upper parts of the roots (girth scab). Yield losses of up to 50% have been reported.
