Aparavirus kashmirense

Assigned virus:
Kashmir bee virus (KBV)

KBV is wide-spread around the world and has a large host range among the bees and wasps. It causes a serious disease in adult honey bees and can be a contributing factor in colony collapse. While infections in honey bees are often symptomless and occur with a low incidence in a hive, outbreaks can develop. The virus belongs to the family Dicistroviridae (order Picornavirales). The Israeli acute paralysis virus is a closely related virus.
