Abstract: The density of the Common Vole (Microtus agrestis), the Redbacked Vole (Clethrionomys glareolus), and the two most common Apodemus species i. e. the Yellownecked Field Mouse (A. flavicollis) and the Longtailed Field Mouse (A. sylvaticus) was investigated in the decale 1980-1990 in several forest cultivations in Bavaria. The trapping results of all these species in two regions in a distance of about 200 km were significantly correlated. It is suggested that some common exogenic factors like food supply, weather conditions, and/or predators are the reason for the observed coherent and synchronous development of different species in both regions.
