Anopheles rufipes (Gough, 1910)
This species is found in tropical savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. It is often associated with rice fields or rice irrigation canals. Other breeding places are rivers, swamps or puddles. It has been reported to feed on domestic animals but also on humans, with cows and humans being the most common hosts in one study (Awono-Ambene et al., 2018). Further it can carry Plasmodium falciparum, the malaria parasites (Tabue et al., 2017).
