Anopheles rondoni Neiva & Pinto, 1922

This mosquito is found in central and southern parts of South America, see the distribution map on the right. It is considered to be a possible malaria vector, having been found to be naturally infected with Plasmodium. A. rondoni is very similar to Anopheles strodei and breeds in lakes and ponds.
