Anopheles punctimacula Dyar & Knab, 1906
This mosquito is widespread in South and Central America from Argentina to Mexico. It is regarded as a malaria vector and bites humans. However, it appears to prefer to feed on domestic animals (Ulloa et ak., 2006). Breeding has been recorded in clear fresh water like pools, marshes, river edges and ditches (Pinault & Hunter, 2012).
An identification key for adult females is given in Sallum et al. (2020).
