Anopheles pulcherrimus Galvao & Damasceno, 1942
The mosquito is found in the Near East, Central and Western Asia, e.g. from Lebanon to India. It is regarded as a malaria vector in some countries, readily biting humans but also domestic animals like cattle. Breeding has been reported from stagnant or slow moving water like rice fields and irrigation ditches, usually with abundant submerged vegetation.
