Anopheles neomaculipalpus Curry, 1931
This mosquito is found in South and Central America, from Argentina to Mexico. It is highly anthropophilic and is regarded as a malaria vector. Specimens infected with Plasmodium vivax and P. falciparum have been collected in several countries (e.g. Moreno et al., 2005 or Moreno et al., 2005). However, it is not considered to be an important malaria vector in most areas. A. neomaculipalpus has been recorded to breed in stagnant water like pools, ponds and puddles.
Identification keys have been published in the following three articles: 1) for adult males, 2) for fourth-instar larvae and 3) for adult females.
