Anopheles meraukensis Venhuis, 1932
This mosquito is found in north-eastern Australia and on the island of New Guinea. It may be common in some areas and readily bites humans. However, it appears to prefer domestic animals. Specimens have been recorded to carry several arboviruses. Breeding has been reported from pools, edges of creeks and swamps, occasionally also from brackish water.
