Anopheles lindesayi Giles, 1900
This mosquito is found in the mountains of Asia from Afghanistan, Pakistan and northern India in the west to Korea and Japan in the east. It bites humans and is regarded as a malaria vector. It has been found to carry Plasmodium falciparum. Breeding sites are ground pools, roadside pools, marshes and the margins of forest streams (Namgay et al., 2020).
An. lindesayi can be recognized by a white band near the end of the hindfemur. Taxonomically, it is regarded as a complex of several species (Somboon et al., 2022) and a number of subspecies have been also described.
