Anopheles jeyporiensis James, 1902
The mosquito is found in southern Asia from India to southern China and can be common in some areas. It is regarded as a malaria vector in eastern Asia and has been found positive for human malaria sporozoites. A. jeyporiensis further transmits Wuchereria bancrofti as well as Brugia malayi. It bites during the night and breeds mainly in slow moving stream with abundant vegetation, in canals and in rice fields.
Taxonomically, A. jeyporiensis is related to Anopheles varuna, but can be distinguished by the "centre of scutum covered with short oblong white scales extending back to the scutellum" (Gunathilaka, 2017).
