Anopheles deaneorum Rosa-Freitas, 1989
The mosquito is found in central and southern parts of South America. It is anthropophilic and can be collected from houses or caught in human landing catches. In laboratory studies it has been shown to be highly susceptible to the malaria agent Plasmodium falciparum which has been also detected in field collected females, using serological tests.
Identification keys have been published in the following two articles: 1) for adult females, and 2) for fourth-instar larvae.
