Anopheles claviger (Meigen, 1804)

This mosquito is common in Europe and neighbouring regions. It can transmit malaria and bites mammals and birds. An. claviger is sometimes a nuisance species. It prefers to breed in permanent, heavily vegetated pools and ditches. Temporary pools may be also used.
