Anopheles braziliensis Chagas, 1907

The mosquito is a possible malaria vector in South America which bites early in the morning as well as during dusk or nighttime. However, it feeds mainly on domestic animals and is found more often outdoors than indoors. A. braziliensis breeds in clear, stagnant water like ponds or springs, sometimes containing algae.

Identification keys have been published in the following three articles: 1) for adult males, 2) for fourth-instar larvae and 3) for adult females.
