Amitus fuscipennis (parasitoid) MacGown & Nebeker, 1978
This wasp is found in Central and South America, where it is an efficient biological control agent of the greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum). Field rates of parasitism can exceed 50% on tomato crops and the development from egg to adult wasp lasts around 4 weeks depending on the temperature (de Vies et al., 2020).
In greenhouse trials, releases of 5 pupae per m2 per week can give effective control of T. vaporariorum for several months (de Vies & van Lenteren, 2008).
