BBLV has been reported from North America, Europe and Asia and appears to be common in some areas. It infects blueberries without causing symptoms in single infections. It also does not appear to have additional adverse effects when co-infecting with other viruses in mixed infections. It does not have a movement protein and appears to spread within the plant only during the process of cell division. The virus is transmitted efficiently through seeds.
