Alphabaculovirus lydisparis (entomopathogen)
Assigned virus:
• Lymantria dispar multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (LdMNPV)
The Lymantria dispar multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus is a pathogen of the gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar) which can cause epizootics when host populations are high. There is also a relationship between the host plant of the gypsy moth and virus infections, for example with infections occurring less frequently on oaks than on aspen. The virus is registered in the U.S.A. under the name Gypcheck and is commercially available.
