Ageratina Spach - (snakeroots)

This genus of composite plants contains more than 300 herbaceous species and shrubs which have a wide distribution in warmer regions. Several are invasive and agricultural weeds like crofton weed (Ageratina adenophora). Some species are also poisonous to livestock. The members had been previously classified under the genus Eupatorium and both genera are now separated on morphological grounds.
