Aedes mediovittatus (Coquillett, 1906) - (Caribbean tree hole mosquito)
The species is found in urban, suburban, and rural areas of the Caribbean and other parts of Central and northern South America, where it shares its habitat with Aedes aegypti. It breeds in containers and is a competent vector of the dengue virus with high transmission rates in the laboratory. In rural areas of Puerto Rico it was found to feed mainly on humans and domestic animals (Barrera et al., 2012).
