Imaginal differentiation of the spermiduct in Acridids: effects of juvenile hormone

Abstract: In the acridids Locusta migratoria migratorioides and Schistocerca gregaria, implantation of corpora allata or injection of juvenile hormone during late larval life can interfere with the differentiation of the spermiduct. Inhibition of metamorphosis of the duct results in male sterility and is accompanied by morphological abnormalities in the gonad. However, spermiogenetic differentiation is not directly affected.

Chez les acridiens Locusta migratoria migratorioides et Schistocerca gregaria, l'implantation de corps allates ou l'injection d'hormone juvénile en fin de vie larvaire peuvent perturber la différenciation du spermiducte. L'inhibition de la métamorphose du spermiducte est à l'origine de la stérilité des mâles et s'accompagne d'anomalies morphologiques au niveau de la gonade, mais la différenciation spermiogénétique n'est pas directement affectée.
