Dasineura Rondani, 1840
This is a large gall midge genus containing more than 400 species. Most are found in the Palaearctic Region. They cause galls mainly on leaves or buds and several species are serious pests like the brassica pod midge, Dasineura brassicae, or the blueberry gall midge, Dasineura oxycoccana. The genus is characterized by various morphological structures like those of the antennae, tarsi or wing venation.
