Ophiovirus mirafioriense
Assigned virus:
• Mirafiori lettuce big-vein virus (MLBVV)
MLBVV has four single-stranded RNAs which are negative or ambisense. It causes big-vein symptoms on lettuce, characterized by chlorosis along all veins. The virus is transmitted by the soil-borne chytrid fungus Olpidium virulentus whose resting spores can survive in the soil for many years harbouring the virus.
