Anopheles koliensis Owen, 1945

This mosquito is found in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands where it is considered to be an important malaria vector. Apart from humans, it also attacks domestic animals, other mammals and birds. A. koliensis bites during the night and may enter houses. It mainly breeds in premanent fresh water bodies like ponds, drainage or irrigation channels.
