Bovicola Ewing, 1929

This genus of chewing lice is widely distributed and contains around 15 species. Species from related genera like Damalinia or Werneckiella are also sometimes included here. The members of the genus infest domestic and wild mammals. Some species are regarded as significant livestock pests. For example, Bovicola ovis is an important parasite in Australia.
