Helopeltis pernicialis Stonedahl et al., 1995
This mosquito bug is found in northern Australia, where it has become a serious pest of cashew trees. Almost complete yield losses are common in cashew plantations, unless the trees are protected by pesticides. However, the green tree ant (Oecophylla smaragdina) can be a very effective biological control agent. Trees with nests by this ant only suffer minor damage (Peng et al., 1997).
