Aedes koreicus (Edwards, 1917)
The mosquito is native to eastern Asia and has been reported from Europe since 2011 (firstly recorded in Italy). It is adapted to temperate environments and produces cold- and drought resistant eggs. A. koreicus breeds in containers and is often common in urban environments. It is suspected to be a vector of Dirofilaria immitis, the agent of canine heartworm disease.
