Planococcus Ferris, 1950
This genus of mealybugs contains around 50 species and has a world-wide distribution, although it might have been introduced into the New World. The species can be recognized by a combination of characters like the 8-segmented antennae, the well developed legs and (in most species) the 18 pairs of cerarii, each consisting of two conical setae.

Type species: Planococcus citri.
