Aedes vigilax (Skuse, 1889)
is mainly found in tropical and subtropical parts of eastern Australia, where it is a vector of Ross River virus (causing epidemic polyarthritis), Barmah Forest virus and Murray Valley Encephalitis virus. The mosquito breeds in coastal wetland mangroves and saltmarshes. It is a dark, medium-size species with white bands on the legs.
