Psyttalia concolor (parasitoid) (Szépligeti, 1910)

The wasp is a larval-pupal koinobiont endoparasitoid of fruit flies. It is native in the Mediterranean region where it attacks, for example, the olive fruit fly, Bactrocera oleae, and the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata. Mature fruit fly larvae are parasitised inside the fruits. It has been released in various other countries against fruit fly pests, e.g. in California, U.S.A. against the olive fruit fly in 2002 (Yokoyama et al., 2008).
