Podisus maculiventris (Say) (spined soldier bug)
is a generalist predator (commercially available) of defoliating insects, e.g. the Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) or the Mexican bean beetle (Epilachna varivestis) which is found in in Europe and North America.
