Rhipicephalus turanicus Pomerantsev, 1936

This tick is widely distributed in the Mediterranean region, in Africa and in warmer parts of Asia. It parasitises domestic animals like sheep or cattle, other mammals, and might even bite humans. It is regarded as a vector of Q-fever and several Rickettsia species like Rickettsia sibirica, causing North Asian tick typhus.
