Chrysomela lapponica Linnaeus, 1758

This species of leaf beetle feeds on willow and birch in northern and central Europe. The adults can show different colour patterns on their elytra. In the Kola Peninsula of north-west Russia, outbreaks of Chrysomela lapponica resulted in severe defoliation of the willow species Salix borealis during the 1990s.
