Pezothrips kellyanus (Bagnall 1916) - (Kelly's citrus thrips)
This species of thrips infests flowers of citrus and the larvae feed on the young fruits. Other plants like jasmine are also attacked. On citrus it causes fruit scarring, resulting in downgrading of the harvest.
It was first collected in South Australia in 1914 and is invasive in New Zealand (first collection 1950) and the Mediterranean region (first record in the late 1990s).
